Dear KIPP Delta Team and Family,
I am excited to write to you today as the new executive director of KIPP Delta Public Schools. It is a true honor to have this opportunity to partner with our students, families, and staff to build our schools, create meaningful opportunities for our students, and relentlessly pursue excellence and a more just world.
I have always loved learning and teaching, and I am drawn to challenging situations that require thoughtful engagement with all stakeholders, holistic solutions, and continuous improvement. At KIPP Delta, I envision co-creating a world-class school system that ensures each of our students and families experiences a welcoming, respectful, and supportive community, where they belong. A KIPP Delta that offers academically excellent and joyful schools that continuously improve and support each of our students to realize their dreams and develop the character and habits of mind essential for college and career readiness, and global citizenship.
I am also keenly aware of the Delta’s significant role in the fight for civil rights and our country’s struggle to realize its ambitious goal of justice for all. In many ways, the Delta is hallowed ground. Given our current climate and the challenges in our country, I can’t think of better people to do this extraordinary work with or a better place to do it.
I am blessed to have served public and charter schools across the country in various roles, including teacher, principal, executive director, and external partner. I recently worked as the regional executive director at Partners in School Innovation, supporting school districts to identify the root causes of district-wide under performance, creating a vibrant and compelling vision of the future, and implementing a strategic plan to bring that vision to life. I am excited to leverage this experience while learning from our Team and Family to create the KIPP Delta of the future.
I look forward to meeting each of you. Normally, we would host a public meet-and-greet event, where I could speak with each of you. However, because of ongoing social distancing guidelines, and our desire to keep all of you safe, we are instead planning a virtual meet-and-greet. Our meet-and-greet will take place via Zoom at 4 p.m. Friday, July 10. I invite each of you to join us. To join, simply click here on July 10 at 4 pm. I hope I see you there!
We know these are uncertain times. Please know that our entire team is hard at work, ensuring that our schools can reopen safely and effectively. We look forward to sharing more with you in the coming weeks.
KIPP Delta’s brightest days are ahead of us, and I look forward to all we will accomplish together!
Grace and Peace,
William Hill, Executive Director
