KIPP Delta Elementary Literacy Academy

Clubs & Activities

KIPP Delta Elementary Literacy Academy (DELA) offers a variety of enrichment activities for students. From arts to athletics, every activity offers our students a chance to extend their learning outside the classroom and experience the world around them in new ways.

Enrichment Activities & Athletics

Students at DELA have the opportunity to participate in enrichment activities. DELA also has a structured Physical Education program which meets the requirements of the state standards. We want our students to be successful in both body and mind. Activities and athletic opportunities include:

  • Choir
  • Boy Scouts
  • T-Ball

Field Lessons

Learning at DELA also expands beyond the walls of the classroom. Here is a quick sampling of the field lessons our students have participated in this year.

Kindergarten - Students travel to Memphis to visit the Children's Museum of Memphis. During their visit they have the opportunity to learn about and experience economics through grocery store play and community helpers through interactive exhibits.

First Grade - Students learn about firefighters and the history of firefighting in the region at the Fire Museum of Memphis. They get to talk to firemen and interact with the equipment used by firefighters.

Second Grade - Students go to Memphis to enjoy a Memphis Redbirds game. They put their math skills into action during the game.

Third Grade – Students travel to Little Rock to experience many of the historical sites and educational museums. This is the first overnight visit for our youngest KIPPsters.

Fourth Grade – Our fourth graders will travel to St. Louis on an over-night trip and visit many historical sites and educational museums.
